So, armed with curiosity and a sense of adventure, we set off to discover the wonders of this hidden gem in the heart of County Cavan.

This museum is one of the great things about Ireland. There are many museums and historical sites dotted around the country. There is something to learn everywhere. There is an admission fee for the museum, €6 for Adults and €14 for family ticket. It is a really cheap for the time and exhibits that can be seen in the museum.

They really cover a lot in the museum. There are exhibitions on the famine and a replica of a workhouse. The museum was formerly a convent, therefore you can expect some exhibits from that time. There is a big section on the 1916 rising and also another section on Cloughoughter Castle on Lough Oughter,

What I find interesting in the museum are some of the archeological finds. There are a lot of items from the medieval and pagan Ireland that has a lot of mystic tales. There is a rock with 3 faces called the Corleck Head, which I find very spooky.
